Finding a college internship is something we all strive for and hope to use to benefit our lives after college. Getting coffee and making copies seems useless but is truly a great way to get your foot in the door of your future career path. When navigating the world of resumes, cover letters, and internships a little help can go a long way, and who better to help than an expert.
Lauren Berger is known as the Intern Queen. She completed 15 internships during her four years at the University of Central Florida. Her copious experience eventually landed her a job at Creative Arts Agency, however that didn’t last long. Since then, Berger has built an empire on being an expert intern.
Berger now has a website based on career advice, an internship and job search engine, and everything in between. Not to mention she is also an author and motivational speaker. Mostly, Berger’s empire is based on the interconnection of people sharing advice and stories on how to succeed in and out of college.
If there’s anything to gain from this it’s get out there and find an internship already! Having experience from day one puts you ahead of the crowd. While most of us probably won’t go on to create our very own agency and website built on our experiences it could lead to a job offer after graduation.
The harsh reality of our economy and job market is discouraging but taking the simplest steps to send out a few resumes can make all the difference. The truth is walking away with just a college diploma isn’t always enough.
